The PERFECT match!
ok. So I finally went christmas shopping today and got everything for sophie and derek. i was so excited to find this toy that i have seen on TV and I KNEW sophie would love it... its called the little superstar or something... its got all the things sophie loves. a big mirror, lots of buttons and toys that make music and lights for her to dance to because she always dances. always. even when we are at the store and she hears the music or i sing to her or my phone starts to ring... so I cant wait to open this up on christmas and see her play with it. it even has a microphone for her to play with and its got rattles on it and when she moves it it turns on music on the "stage" so cool! i can't wait!

First word?
So I think sophie got her first word.... "duck" she has been able to do mama and daddy for a while now but she looks at her rubber ducky and says duck in the tub so i think she knows what it is... or am i just a first time parent? :) she has also figured out the crawling concept... now she needs to perfect it so she can take more than 2 steps...

I DID IT
ok. choosing a fridge is almost as hard as picking out a pair of shoes. but i did it. i ended up going with a french door. it just seemed bigger and for the set up of our kitchen the side by side was not going to work. oh its so pretty i just love it! you can see yourself in it. haha sophie was laughing at it. i'm gonna have to figure out all the buttons on the ice dispenser though... who would have thought i had to read a manual for a fridge?! SO. here it is ladies! now.... i
just gotta learn how to cook so i can put stuff in it... :)

An amazing sight
so as I mentioned before sophie is really sick. she has a nasty cold and cough... its her first time being sick so we are kinda scratching our heads at what to do... thank goodness for my sisters and adam (paula's husband... my personal on call doctor) so last night when sophie was just crying and crying in agony of feeling like crap and not being able to sleep we were just clueless of what to do next. we gave her medicine, humidifier, raised her head... Everything they tell ya to do... and she was still screaming... so we went to the best choice. a blessing. derek put his hands on her head and as soon as he said her name she calmed down instantly and went to sleep. it was amazing. it seems that everytime derek gives me or her a blessing i cry at the strong spirit I feel and to see his priesthood be able to bring comfort and peace to sophie was probably the best thing ever. it made me realize how lucky i am to have this in our home. the priesthood is an amazing power that i seem to take for granted at times. Derek, thanks a LOT for being worthy of this great blessing and being able to bless soph last night. arent we lucky to have this in our homes and our lives so we can even call someone when we need it? :)
ps: mothers... any tips on making sick babies happier are very welcome!

She luckly has gotten past her fear of everyone. and now laughs at everything and everyone. when i'm on the phone and i laugh she laughs too. she cracks us up. she does random things and loves her dancing santa

Christmas is HERE!
ok. so if you know me well you know i'm OBSESSED with christmas. I put my decorations up November 1st. one month for christmas is just not enough. so i do two. however since we are moving mid december I couldn't put my stuff up because then i'll have more to pack. and I have enough. its been killing me. so to get into the spirit of christmas Paula and I went to Layton to the mall and took a santa picture. Sophie got to meet santa. she loved him! she sat there and smiled at him and stared at his beard. then we took a picture of her waving her arms with her candy cane. it was fun! Merry Christmas everyone!

I NEED OPINIONS LADIES! (not you men. haha)
ok. so. I am trying to decide on what kind of refrigerator I want to buy for my new kitchen. I am torn between a side by side or a bottom freezer one. I like how the bottom freezer one makes the fridge nice and wide and you can see everything in there really well. the freezer drawer has a couple drawers inside of it so it keeps the freezer organized even though its a big drawer. the side by side is nice because you have lots of shelves but you can't fit anything big in there... but the freezer seems to be bigger... tell me what kind of fridge you have and tell me if you like it or not and what you like and don't like about it... I'm leaning torwards a bottom freezer one... so if you have one and HATE it let me know too. thank you ladies!

they put our stucco color on today! yay! although the trim (around the garage, front right window and archway) is not done yet. they are going to put a darker color on it. a darker tann. I am SOOO excited now! the house is looking like a house! our finish material is here (baseboard, doors etc etc) and my dad in law will start on that this Saturday! I will start taking pictures of the inside once the finish work starts going up. because the outside is pretty much DOOOOONE! (sorry the picture quality is not the best... I forgot to take my camera and they were taken with my phone... )

extra! extra!
well according to Paula its been FOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEER since I updated my blog... so. the house is coming along quite faster than i thought! I haven't taken any pictures lately because they had been working on electrical plumbing and stuff and thats just not interesting enough. however now they have all the drywall up and we are going to start putting the tile down this weekend! so fast huh!?! we are putting floors in! to me thats HUGE! all thats left inside is finish work, paint cabinets floors and countertops and then put up all fixtures! and we are DONE! the outside is alsmost done!they finished all the rock today. although we have some extra rock so we think we might make the garage corners higher... we went with the "old world" look. supposed to look like an older house... figures right? build it to look old? haha and the stucco is almost done. the first coat is on and next week they put the color on it. so it won't look grey. so ya! thats the update! i was going to take better pictures but the sun was glaring right when i went so i couldn't... and i didn't take any inside because the drywall crew was working... anywho. more to come SOOOOON!!!
this is the front view but without the rock

Seeing Double
Saturday my sister Paula came down for a byu game so we took the chance to get together and have some good ol bbq from dad. Paula and I picked up the girls some matching shirts at the gateway the other day and so they HAD to wear them. hahahah Will and Debbie were there taking pictures of the girls and Debbie got a good one of sophie making her Angry face as we call it. she can do it on command. its hillarious. we tell her "make your angry face!" and snort to her and she does it back and snorts to us. thats where the picture on the very top of the blog came from. her angry face. she cracks us up

Will she ever stop amusing us?!
I submit that she CANNOT! Sophie has apparently picked up whistling. I whistle at her when I want her attention when she eats. as you can tell from this video she DOES NOT sit still... EVER! so that's why she is so messy... it's like feeding someone while off roading. any who, she tries to whistle and even gets some out... right before I say "good girl" on the video she lets out a couple low whistles. she amazes me how FAST she is picking stuff up. She can wave bye bye and clap and SCREAMS like we are murdering her. I swear we are going to get protective services called on us. She just LOVES to scream her lungs out and then giggles right after.

The roof is on.... fire?
no. but I thought of the song...haha our shingles are on! and I could not be more relieved that the color turned out. PHEW! I was worried because you have to choose from a sample thats like 2 feet wide so its hard to really see what it'll look like. although you can't really see the color very well it turned out good. Its got a very warm brownish redish grayish color... get it? hahah it looks gray on the picture. but its not. you can kinda tell the color where the sun hits on the garage. the heating and cooling is done for now and most of the plumbing too. Our windows and doors have arrived and we will install them on monday. So you will probably see some more pictures next week!

Walmart... what an "amazing" place.
Well we all go to walmart. if you haven't you must live under a rock or something or i guess you can afford to go somewhere better. I do have to admit. they DO have just about everything and it IS usually cheaper... but sometimes... I rather go somewhere else. I really get so stressed out everytime grocery shopping day comes... it all starts in the parking lot where there is ALWAYS room in the front... well at least for the handicapped. sometimes I think I should break something to get a decent parking spot that I don't need to bring a water bottle to make it on the walk to the front door... that is if I make it past the cart runner that wears a helmet and I swear tries to run me over everytime with his train... the greeters are always welcoming when they look at you from their cozy chair and look somewhere else when you look at them... such a warm welcome... and hopefully you NEVER have to use the restroom there... sometimes like today you just HAVE to. I have held it all through grocery shopping before and sped walked all through the store to make it back home and use my own restroom... today. was not that day. I HAD to go. that's when I got really grateful for walmart... nothing better than stepping into a nice crap smelling bathroom with a very "iffy" looking door that you dare not touch and push with your feet... then have to wait for the big stall because you don't fit in the little one with a car seat... so you have to take in the "fresh" air... after 5 mins (no joke) the lady came out... after putting down 4 seat covers i get done and listen to the wonderful sound of the person in the next stall clipping their fingernails... no joke. clipping their fingernails in a public bathroom... i'm at a loss for words... I hold my breath while washing my hands and push the door open with my paper towel... again almost to be ran over by the sweeper wearing a helmet. ( no joke. they really are wearing helmets) I still speed walk through the isles to prevent getting so stressed by the relief society meeting in the baking isle and blocking the isle while sharing baking secrts... finally I make it home and try to carry 12 bags up 3 flights of stairs with sophie in the baby bjorn. but that's when walmart's amazing quality shows and my bags break from being .001 mm thick and my groceries go rolling down the stairs... how do they know that I love chasing my tomato sauce down the stairs with my baby on my stomach and 6 other bags in my hand?! I DO NOT know! I LOVE WALMART. they sure do make it a great experience. I think they have me thinking target? smiths? albertsons? we will see... I think next family vacation we will be spending at good ol wallie world and not Disneyland because its now the new "happiest place on earth"

Baby Picture Contest!
Ok. so. you can tell that I'm bored.... I was looking through the pottery barn kids website to exchange my diaper bag because after one month it already ripped... ya. but don't you worry... they are sending me a new one and letting me keep my other one so its good with me! i was also looking to get ideas on how i want soph's nursery at our house... (still have no idea... Natalie, I will need your help on this one babe) anyway, I came accross a baby picture and it said they are doing a baby picture contest! you send in your picture and if they pick yours your baby will be shown on their website and on their catalog... I'm sure (or at least HOPE) we get something else too... so I HAD to send this picture that one of my personal photographers Debbie Duris hahah (my sis in law) took. its an amazing picture. they truly are amazing photographers. check out their website www.willduris.com

2 updates!
so the house is almost done being framed. the only thing left to do is finish putting plywood on the garage doors and put the roof on... we are hoping to finish it all by next weekend when we can get a big crane for the truses... also Sophie is sitting up for good! she is doing an awesome job and sits up VERY well. she has a ton of fun playing with her toys around her when she is sitting up. she goes for minutes at the time until she tries to reach for something really far away and takes a tumble...
I can't keep up!
Ok. I seriously CANNOT keep up with Derek and his dad. they started framing the house this week and now... its pretty much done! these pictures are a day old... i went to take more pictures today and my camera was dead when i went to take them. gay. i know. and the ONE picture i got before it died doesn't even show anything... just a window. BUT! the only thing left to frame is the garage, and the roof.once the garage is framed we'll be able to see what the house will look like from the front much better... after that it'll be done! the outside walls (except the garage) and the inside walls are all done. its SO fun to be able to walk around the house and actually see where all the rooms are going to be and how big my pantry and closet are. hahahah i made sure of it. Derek and his dad are doing a GREAT job and getting it done sooo fast. they are working so hard and have put in more than 80 hours of work this week... so far. thanks again for all you do for us! you two are amazing. I will take pictures tomorrow of everything that is done and make sure my camera is charged.. :)
